This juried exhibition celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Mississauga Potters' Guild and honours its longevity and growing connection to the cultural community in Mississauga. Sanguine is a synonym for ruby, the traditional gemstone to celebrate this milestone. Sanguine also refers to red iron oxide, a chemical used in clay and glazes. In its adjective form, it means optimistic, buoyant and spirited, which reflects the Guild members' positive growth and enthusiastic vision for the future. Ceramic artists in SANGUINE explore materials, processes and techniques to express their personal narratives, observations and experiences within this thematic framework.
Annika will be displaying a new sculptural set called "Remnants".
