Annika will be one of several Canadian artists participating in Black & Smith’s Holiday Exhibition. She will have a small selection of her chevron bowls and tumblers available to purchase from the shop.

There will be an opening event Saturday December 3, 6pm-8pm

Regular Gallery Hours are Friday-Saturday-Sunday- 11am-4pm

“After the store was left empty for over 20 years, we opened the space in 2015 as a modern general store that specialized in quality handmade objects. We started with our house made pottery and a small collection of locally produced gifts, and expanded to carry work by over 60 Canadian artists, from coast to coast.”

Join us for a special in-person artist talk with members of the Mississauga Potters’ Guild. Award-winning artist and mentor Susan Low-Beer will be in conversation with artist Karla Rivera, followed by a presentation by artist Kim Ross. Rivera and Ross are both part of the group featured in the Gardiner Shop’s retail exhibition Confluence, on from July to September.

Clay Voices 3 Artist Presentation via Instagram Live

Clay Voices is a gathering on Instagram that responds to the challenges ceramic artists face in their practice and in their daily lives. Through informal live presentations, a selection of Canadian ceramic artists from across the country will take turns opening up their studios, discussing their ideas and sharing their work and processes.

Annika will be presenting a brief overview of her journey with clay thus far, and talking about how she finds a balance between teaching ceramic classes and making her ceramic art and functional wares.

Toronto Potters 20th Biennial Exhibition

The Toronto Potters Association mounts their 20th Biennial Juried Exhibition at the Gardiner Museum Shop from October 1 to October 31, 2018, showcasing forty works by twenty four local artists from the Greater Toronto Area and Southern Ontario. Ranging from functional to sculptural, the exhibition highlights the breadth of exceptional work produced by this community of potters and ceramists.

The opening will include the presentation of awards for the juror’s picks, and also feature a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony conducted by tea ceremony master, Yumiko Katsuya. Sweets and matcha tea will be served.

Opening Reception Friday October 5th
6pm-8pm

Exhibition will stay on display until October 31.

This juried exhibition celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Mississauga Potters' Guild and honours its longevity and growing connection to the cultural community in Mississauga. Sanguine is a synonym for ruby, the traditional gemstone to celebrate this milestone. Sanguine also refers to red iron oxide, a chemical used in clay and glazes. In its adjective form, it means optimistic, buoyant and spirited, which reflects the Guild members' positive growth and enthusiastic vision for the future. Ceramic artists in SANGUINE explore materials, processes and techniques to express their personal narratives, observations and experiences within this thematic framework. 

Annika will be displaying a new sculptural set called "Remnants".

The Toronto Outdoor Art Fair is the largest outdoor art exhibition in Canada and has established itself as an important event within the Canadian arts community.

Annika is excited to be participating in the 57th Toronto Outdoor Art Fair (Formerly the Outdoor Art Exhibition) this year in a community booth operated by the Toronto Potters. 12 selected members of the Toronto Potters group will have their art and functional ceramics available for sale for the duration of the weekend.

The Mississauga Potters’ Guild, founded in 1978, is a non-profit volunteer organization. The Guild is run by members who have a passion for working in clay. The Guild has three levels of membership: General, Studio and Resident Artists. The members work together to advance the art and craft of pottery, maintain a studio with 24/7 access, offer classes and workshops for members and non-members, holds monthly meeting for members and participates in a variety of activities to showcase the work of members including exhibitions and sales.

The Queen West Art Crawl (QWAC) is a charitable organization designed to celebrate and promote the art, culture and diversity of Queen West in Toronto. The cornerstone of QWAC is the Outdoor Art Exhibition in beautiful Trinity Bellwoods Park, which draws over 60,000 visitors annually. The Art Exhibition features a juried selection of the province’s best artists and artisans, and also showcases a Kids Zone, Performance Zone and Toronto’s best food vendors. With over 14 years of establishing lasting partnerships with galleries, hotels and businesses in the Queen West Community, the Queen West Art Crawl has become a staple event for the community and tourists alike. The 14th annual Queen West Art Crawl will take place on October 1-2, 2016.
